Diving & snorkelling — coral reefs

Nha Trang is Vietnam's diving capital. Hon Mun reefs host 340 coral species and hundreds of tropical fish. Snorkelling boat trip from €8, scuba from €25. Best season: March to September.

Central beach — 6 km of sand

Nha Trang beach stretches 6 km right through the city centre. Free loungers in some areas, beer for €1 at beach bars, and spectacular sunsets. Avoid July-August (peak crowds) and October-November (rainy season).

Mud baths — I-Resort

Volcanic mud baths are a Nha Trang speciality. I-Resort, 7 km from the centre, offers mineral mud pools, thermal springs and jacuzzis in a tropical setting. Entry from €12 — an unmissable relaxation break after snorkelling.

Po Nagar Cham Towers

Four Hindu towers built between the 7th and 12th centuries overlook the Cai River estuary. Still active, they are dedicated to the mother goddess Yan Po Nagar. A short visit (30 min) but very photogenic — arrive early to beat tour groups. Entry €2.

Hon Tre Island — Vinpearl

Hon Tre island is reached by cable car over the sea (world record at 3.3 km). It houses the vast Vinpearl complex: water park, roller coasters, aquarium and private beach. Ideal for families or a full day of relaxation.

Nha Trang's night market (near Tran Phu) is renowned for its fresh seafood stalls: prawns, lobsters, squid and grilled fish sold by weight. Bargaining expected — around €10-20 for a seafood feast for two.

Yang Bay — waterfalls and thermal springs

45 km north of Nha Trang, this nature park combines waterfalls, hot springs and animal enclosures in the jungle. Reachable by motorbike or organised tour (~€15). The main waterfall is crossed by rope — guaranteed adrenaline rush.

Nha Trang Bay, with its 19 islands, offers one of Vietnam's finest panoramas. A sunset boat trip (~€15) or a drink at a Tran Phu hotel rooftop reveals the bay at its most colourful. The bay is listed among the world's most beautiful.
